WJEC Level 1 and 2 Certificates in Latin
Introduction For first teaching from September 2009, WJEC is introducing a new range of qualifications in Latin at Level 1 and Level 2. Level 1 is equivalent to Foundation Tier at GCSE; Level 2 is equivalent to Higher Tier. The qualifications were approved by QCDA and accredited by Ofqual in August 2009 and approved by JACQA in December 2009.
Known as 'Certificates in Latin', the new qualifications are designed as an alternative to GCSE, in the same way that IB or Pre-U are alternatives to A Level.
Further information about the qualifications The approved specifications, together with sample question papers, mark schemes and set texts, are available from the WJEC website at wjec.co.uk/latin. To view the sample question papers, mark schemes and set texts, please click 'Show all documents' in the right hand column on the WJEC site.
Further details and support are available here via the menu on the right.
Free teaching and learning materials To access free teaching and learning materials for the qualifications (e.g. vocabulary testers, online 'explorer' versions of the texts, audio and weblinks), please click Level 1 or Level 2 from the menu on the left. | |
